Leadership

Every Member Matters

“11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, Eph. 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ . . .” –Ephesians 4:11-13

Harvest belongs to no man or woman—only Jesus. We recognize that all who are a part of it now are here temporarily. We also know that titles and functions are transient. Everyone who is a member of Harvest has a part to play and is a part of disciple-making. For information on who some of our formal leaders are, see below:

Our Governance

Harvest is elder-led, congregationally-ruled, and staff-facilitated.

  • Elder-Led: The elders, set apart and identified at a local level, graciously serve and lead the congregation in Christlikeness. They teach, train, exhort, love the church and are entrusted by the congregation to direct the affairs of the church.
  • Congregationally-Ruled: Congregationalism finds that the recognized membership of the church—when gathered—is the highest authority (outside of the Lord). Much of the day to day organizational life of the church is entrusted to elders, lay leaders, or staff. However, some items ascend to the level of congregational input. Our bylaws lay these items out as: (1) Approval of new Elders, and/or re-affirmation of current Elders; (2) Affirmation of Directional Pastor(s); (3) Purchases of real property or any unbudgeted purchases in an amount over 7.5% of the annual budget; (4) Disposition of all or substantially all of the assets of the Church; (5) Merger or dissolution of the Church; (6) Amendments to the Bylaws; (7) The annual Church budget; (8) Other matters in which the Elders feel led to seek the advice, counsel and/or support of the Church Members.
  • Staff-Facilitated: When it is afforded and appropriate, a church can hire staff (staff elders, pastors, or other leaders) to help facilitate daily aspects of congregational life.
Elders

Harvest believes elders are the spiritual leaders of the church. Under Christ, the elders strive to know, feed, lead, and protect the flock. Harvest has both staff and lay eleders as part of the elder body. Our current elders are

  • Hans Googer (staff)
  • Wade Henderson (lay)
  • Jesse Hicks (staff)
  • Tim Lohrmann (lay)
  • Zach McGaughey (lay)
  • Tim Seippel (staff)
  • Jon Weichbrodt (lay)
Staff

Harvest has both full- and part-time pastoral and ministry staff to help facilitate the day-to-day ministry. Part of our unique expression is that we use co-lead pastors and leverage a group of teachers on Sunday, so one of four or five people might be preaching. This model is non-traditional, but it how we currently believe we will be best-led.

  • Lead Teaching Pastor: Jesse Hicks
  • Lead Executive Pastor: Hans Googer
  • Pastor of Care, Connection, and Outreach: Tim Seippel
  • Associate Pastor of Students: Andrew Pearce
  • Associate Pastor of Worship: Matt Brantner
  • Children’s Ministry Director: Lyndsey Smart
  • Operations Minister: Nicole Lee
